As much as I enjoy Tenipuri, this season was so meh compared to the older ones. I was aware of this coming in, thanks to the manga, but it's still kinda disappointing. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! The last game was just spectacular with Echizen being a boss once again and now its going to be Tezuka vs Echizen hopefully! But sadly it might be years later! Overall, this anime had an amazing comeback and didn't disrespect the characters in any way! It showed them in the same epic way I remember them! LOVE IT!! It was a blast from the past and will miss it! :'))))

Overall Score: 10/10! Hopefully, we will see the next season soon!

I gotta say, RyoSaku shippers are really well-fed with the movie and many interactions in this season. Ik many people hated how Sakuno was portrayed here, but I really appreciate it considering the years of draught shippers have experienced AAHHAHA The manga interactions here was so different from how they were portrayed here. For one, we don't see Ryoma volunteering to walk Sakuno to her hotel. They also didn't have a conversation in the hospital. The Prince and Ryoma did because he was already awake the moment he arrived in his room (if I remember correctly). Also, you guys really have to stop complaining about every little Sakuno moments because I think she's really being set up as the end game and love interest for Ryoma. I think it's the author's way of establishing their relationship so it wouldn't seem out of the blue if they do end up together.

i really like the matches that were well developed, but as a whole, the season is very bad, because its SO RUSHED, and they skip a lot of things, the season should have been like 24 episodes or more, for better development, a shame, makes one to read the manga :/

my journey across all the tenipuri anime is done, from episode 1 to this season, very enjoyable, the superpowers escalated quickly since the nationals arc, but i still liked it, bc at least they like to develop and focus on a lot of characters aside from the MC, so im okay

now to wait for another season, or just read the manga to see what they skipped

It all makes sense now. Why all this time Ryoga refused to play Echizen. He dont wanna be the bad guy, acting like Itachi. Its coz his powers is just to fcking OP and villainy like. not only copies techniques but consumes it as his own and left the owner to no longer play tennis. Nanjiroh knew this since they were kdis so he propose a promise to Ryoga. Now thats a heavy burden.

I agree that older versions are way better. Also, recent sports animes like Haiikyu, Ao Ashi, & the upcoming Blue Lock are much more appealing due to better writing and better showcasing of matches. However, it is still quite enjoyable... I will give it a 6 to 6.5. I will still be happy to see this through. :)

So, any long lasting Prince of Tennis fans here who can explain to me why this is so awful?

I have had zero contact with neither anime nor manga before these 13 episodes and I have to say, the pacing in this is complete garbage. They manage to rush everything interesting while also dragging out shitty parts - there were like thirty people calling out Ryoma from his coma zenkai boost. Did this adaptation have no budget? Was this fan-made? 80% of the anime is just the team members standing still like in a 70s anime and moving their mouth.

I'll give this a genuine 5/10, I am incredibly disapppointed by what this turned out to be.

Prince of Tennis fans, please tell me that all of these interesting characters do not go to waste in the manga or ealier anime shows.

The orginal is far better, but mainly because it is not this absolutely absurd. They always had impossible techniques but at least you could imagine them being more or less real. I think the passing is also better, but there is still quite a bit of other team members commenting on the plays. I guess the difference is that they usually explain things like how the techniques work or in the beginning general tennis knowledge. Of cours thats not possible at this point when we talk about black holes and hitting a return ace being a "technique" and if you know it you score point with every return no matter the shot, which is so stupid its hard to believe anyone went with that.

5/10? I can't believe you gave it a 5. I'm one of the long-lasting PoT fans cuz I was trying to mimic some of the shots while I was playing Tennis while I was still a teen. But like Collat said, it became absurd just like Yugioh cards. Starts of simple like... uhh... practicing serves into a small box and never missing (lol), then blackhole techniques started coming into play. Then too many offside characters started commenting about every single detail... and saying Echizen's name (they did do that in the past, but it became very apparent as I got older).

My favorite absurd part in this episode though was when he was talking AND running to the side to get some rackets. That killed me good lmao

The original manga and anime had better pacing. You got to actually know the characters and they had interesting interactions. Even when the matches started to become full of superpowers, it was in a fun way. And the anime producers actually had a good sense of humor (unlike Konomi - I'm sorry, but his gags are not that good); that also added to the whole thing.

New Prince of Tennis is just a rushed version of the superpowered tennis, with no time for the characters and the fun was replaced by that bad attempt of tennis being serious business. At least they did not try to shove in the beach pick-up episode. It was awful and even seeing it in the ending was bad.
Still, by adapting something not that good by rushing through it they made it worse than the source. And even the new songs for the anime weren't that memorable, even though that also used to be one of the best points of Prince of Tennis.

As a (former?) Tenipuri fan, I give this 3/10
